Wearable art or hidden symbolism?
The Ravenclaw Crest by jimiyo gives an altogether other interpretation of the Ravenclaw emblem.
Firstly, the design features a raven as the centerpiece – instead of the customary eagle, with a quill and a sword underneath. These symbols all support Rowena Ravenclaw’s motto of “Wit beyond measure is man’s greatest treasure“. The raven a possible reference to Edgar Allen Poe’s The Raven; the quill supporting the focus on literature and the sword yet another skill to master.
Yet it is the other symbols that are a bit more esoteric: Rowena Ravenclaw’s diadem, angel wings on the raven, a rabbit, and a pair of Elton John-styled glasses. This symbolism screams drag queen. Apparently Harry fancied the wrong Weasley.
With all this symbolism, this house crest says: We study hard, and we play hard!
